Assistant to the Assistant Head & Director of Studies

The Assistant to the Assistant Head & Director of Studies supports the mission of the school and the work of the office, primarily through administrative responsibilities that include:

Assisting in the facilitation of faculty professional development

  • Tracking professional development opportunities
  • Using database software to record and track expenditures
  • Registering teachers for conferences, booking travel, and arranging for hotels
  • Ensuring requisite paperwork is filled out and filed for PD requests and reimbursements

Helping to process the academic and special-day schedules for the JK-8 campus

  •     Reserving space for classes and for chapel services in coordination with the facilities team
  •     Assisting in the printing and distribution of individual faculty and student schedules

Serving on the calendar committee

  •     Ensuring that spaces are properly scheduled to meet the needs of the school
  •     Working to build the calendar of events for the next school year
  •     Helping to plan events run out of the assistant head’s office (e.g., faculty meetings, PD day)

Offering general administrative support to the assistant head & director of studies

  •     Coordinating schedules, assisting with the daily operation of the office.
  •     Posting job descriptions to the school website and to other web platforms
  •     Managing the interview schedules of job applicants

General administrative support in the high school division

  • Coordinating faculty mailboxes and being part of a team that distributes mail
  • Providing back-up to the front desk, answering phones and covering certain lunch hours.


The ideal assistant has prior experience in a school setting and thrives in a collegial, collaborative, fun, hard-working, fast-tempo environment. Strong computer skills, database management, attention to detail, written and oral communication, multitasking, and an ability to work independently and as a team member are essential to this position.  

While reporting to the Assistant Head & Director of Studies, this position works closely with the head of school, trustees, division heads, deans, teachers, and other administrative offices. As this position entails working with sensitive and confidential information, personal integrity and the ability to develop trusting and appropriate relationships are of paramount importance.


Position begins as soon as possible and is a 12-month position.
